School Diary

This week we will be interviewing one of our students who balances his studies with a job delivering newspapers.
Q: What is your daily schedule?
A: Every morning I go to the store at about 1 a.m. The morning edition delivery takes a bit of time, so I usually work until about 5 a.m. and then try to sleep until my classes start at 8:30 a.m. Following my lessons I go home, eat, and then deliver the afternoon edition between 2 and 4 p.m. I?m free after that, but since I have to work the next morning, I always go to bed early.
Q: When you first started the job, how did you find it?
A: I found it difficult at first because I had never worked a night shift before, but now I?m used to it.
Q: What types of experiences are you getting that the other students are not?
A: Well, I deliver papers to 300 houses, so I memorized all the addresses within the first month. However, the next month the addresses changed so I had to start again. (laughing)
Q: Lastly, could you comment on your plans for the future?
A: I?m aiming to get into a Japanese university, so I?d like to be able to find more time to stay at home and devote to my studies.
It sounds like a demanding lifestyle, but you seem to be handling everything well. We wish you the best in continuing to balance your studies and work!
