Right now all of our classes are busy preparing for the Christmas Party that will be held on December 24th. The first diary article of the new year will discuss how the party went, so this week?s entry will jump ahead to talk about New Year?s cards.
One of our creative teachers had a brilliant idea to promote interaction between the students of one of the intermediate classes: use a class to write New Year?s cards to each other. The teacher prepared one card for each student and then got everyone to write their own name and address on the front. The cards were then collected, shuffled, and redistributed so that no one received their own card back, and each of the students ended up writing a card to one of their classmates. Everyone promised not to say who they were writing to, so they will be all be surprised on New Year?s Day when they receive their card.
This was a great activity to help the students bond while still learning about Japanese culture and practicing the correct way to write New Year?s cards.
