School Diary

Today we are interviewing Becky, a student who is taking private lessons at the Musashiurawa Japanese Institute.

Becky is a cheerful British woman who is currently working as an English instructor, teaching students ranging from children to adults. This diversity means the work is always interesting, and she is enjoying it immensely.

Becky used to work in the personnel department of a large company. Interested in experiencing a foreign culture, she initially took a quick trip to Japan. However, she enjoyed it so much that she decided to work here. “It has been a year and a half since I moved to Japan. I love Japanese food, especially sushi and udon, which I eat a lot. Living in Japan can be quite difficult for foreigners, since it is hard to communicate if you don’t speak the language. Particularly going to places such as the hospital or bank can be challenging. Right now kanji is the most difficult part for me, but I’m studying a lot and hope to master it soon.”

Becky is eager to learn, and so her Japanese has been getting better and better. Please keep up the hard work and enjoy life in Japan!
