Like the last entry, today we will hear from another of our graduating students. This is from Ms Tang Hiu Lam from Hong Kong.

I have been in Japan for a year and a half now. Before I came to Japan, I always asked myself, “What is Japan like?” But when I actually arrived and experienced it for myself, it was a little different than I had thought.

This was not only the first time I lived in a foreign country, but also the first time I lived alone and so it was very hard for me. Sometimes I thought about going back home, but with the help and support of friends and teachers, I made it through the tough times.

When I was in Hong Kong, I used to pass all my problems on to my parents. They would solve them for me, so I had nothing to worry about. But in Japan, nobody has to help me and so I have to deal with it by myself. I learned how to manage by myself, and therefore this has been a very important experience in my life.

The time passed by so quickly. I am happy that I met so many friends while in Japan, and I’m sure that even after I graduate we will meet again some day.
