School Diary

Continuing last week?s discussion of our Sports Festival, it seems that schools in other countries also have similar events, although apparently the activities differ. For example, according to our students, Chinese sports festivals usually contain only races and not games like ours.

This year our festival featured an obstacle course relay with stations where participants had to take a bite out of a piece of bread hanging on a string, search for hidden candy, run a three-legged race, or even race a cardboard caterpillar. While all of these games are quite familiar to Japanese people, they were new to our students.

The last event was ?dorokei,? a cops and robbers game that both students and teachers participated in. The game was so intense that students kept tripping and falling, and some teachers even ended up with pulled muscles. Despite this, the activities left everyone in high spirits and feeling like kids again.

All in all, it was a great fall day filled with laughter..
