This past Sunday, October 25th, The Ashikaga International Association of Ashikaga City in Tochigi prefecture held a Japanese speech contest in which Andrea Sutjiatmajoeng from class J3A represented our school. He and his teacher have been preparing for this event for the last three weeks.
All of this rehearsing allowed him to present his speech with confidence, incorporating actions and gestures as well, despite being nervous. Unfortunately he did not win a prize, but he was commended on his theme, ?Japan, The Most Well-Mannered Country,? with the adjudicator commenting on how educational it was.
This is the 15th consecutive year that this event has been held, and this year saw students from 14 different countries and 5 different continents present speeches about their experiences in Japan. When the speeches were completed, there was then an opportunity for the participants to learn about each other?s cultures while playing games, eating candy, and listening to a performance of South American music.
Everyone, please consider participating in next year?s contest and showing off your own studies!
