School Diary

Our school has five days off in a row this February thanks to the addition of the two days around National Foundation Day. This coincides with the Spring Festival (Lunar New Year), so many of our students are returning home to spend the holiday with their family. Before they left, we asked them the following two questions.
Q1: What are you most looking forward to over the Spring Festival?
As expected, the most common answer was ?mom?s cooking!? After that, there were still numerous things to be excited about, such as watching special holiday programming with relatives (apparently there are shows similar to Japan?s Red and White Year-end Song Festival) and meeting up with friends from high school.
Q2: What kind of souvenirs are you bringing home?
Everyone responded with food: chocolate, pound cake, or rice crackers. Saitama Prefecture where our school is located is famous for soka senbei (rice crackers), so they should make good souvenirs.
Meanwhile, the students staying in Japan for the holidays are planning a gyoza party at the dormitory. Homemade gyoza always tastes best, don?t you think? We do have one request for the teachers who are attending though: try to make sure people don?t drink too much!
