School Diary

The seemingly long, but in actuality short, spring vacation is over and the students are now returning to classes. This means that our quiet school is slowly regaining its lively atmosphere from before the break. Everyone seemed to enjoy the time off, whether they went back home for a break or were busy at their jobs.
Although the new exchange students didn?t arrive in Japan until the middle of April, the returning students started their classes on April 2nd. The new semester has already been busy for them as preparatory classes for the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) began as well.
Since it?s a new term, each class?s head teacher consulted with their students to come up with a goal that they could all work together to achieve, and most of them revolved around getting good results on the EJU or the JLPT. Everyone is taking their studies seriously with these targets in mind, since they know that high marks can open the doors of elite public and famous private universities. Everyone is doing their best to get the grades needed for their desired institutions, but there isn?t a lot of time left with the first sitting of the EJU on June 20th and the JLPT on July 4th.
Conversely, most of our new students are just starting their beginner classes. Working from the basics of hiragana on to the intermediate and advanced levels, it is important to have a strong foundation before moving up to the next step. It might seem like a less stressful time, but you must be sure to master the essentials in order to continue on.
To all our returning and new students, let?s have a great year together!
