School Diary

Readers, do you remember a student named Irish from a diary article last December? She was a graduating student from the Philippines who was moving on to a Japanese high school. Well, the other day she came back to Musashi Urawa to visit.
I hadn’t seen her since she graduated, but I caught a glimpse of her as I approached the place where we had arranged to meet. This was the first time I had seen her in a plaid skirt (a mini-skirt, of course), and the school uniform suited her perfectly. It made me realize that she has truly become a high school student now.
Irish had grown a bit since she left us, but when she started talking, I could see that otherwise she hasn’t changed at all; she is still the cheerful, energetic girl we knew. She stays busy at school, taking part in extracurricular clubs and keeping up with her schoolwork. Language arts is of course the most difficult subject for her, but it sounds like she does everything she can to beat her classmates in all the other courses.
We wish you all the best in your high school career!
